Cyber crime turning professional - The 5 biggest cyber crime trends in 2022
CEO of SoSafe, Dr. Niklas Hellemann, gives an insight into the top 5 cybercrime trends in 2022 and explains which psychological factors play a particularly important role in cyberattacks.
MoreGlobal crises, geopolitical challenges, the COVID 19 pandemic – last year did not give us time to take a breath. And unfortunately, we also had to observe dramatic developments in the field of information security.
Because cyber criminals were not long in coming up with attacks when it came to exploiting the dynamic social context for their unscrupulous intentions. In addition, there is an increasing professionalization in the field of cybercrime. Organizations now face an innovative dark economy where cybercrime-as-a-service is the common business model. Tactics are evolving almost by the minute and attackers do not hesitate to use psychological tactics to manipulate our minds. The interface between humans and machines remains the number one entry point – more than 85 percent of all attacks start with the human factor. CEO of SoSafe, Dr. Niklas Hellemann, gives an insight into the top 5 cybercrime trends in 2022 and explains which psychological factors play a particularly important role in cyberattacks.

Cyber: What geopolitics and handwashing have to do with it
The end of the globalized world as we know it comes with increasing fragmentation, US-China tensions, the Russia-Ukraine war, and the weaponization of technologies.
MoreThese are some of the major geopolitical megatrends – and all manifest themselves, and increasingly so, in the cyber space. The number of cyber attacks – both with criminal or (geo-)political intent – is increasing continuously. With not only operational or financial impact but also with real impact on real people like a patient dying because a hospital was hacked and could not take her.
In our digitalized world cyber is and remains the dark sibling. It is a top priority for all companies and institutions – or should be. The good news is: You can prepare and protect yourself, both as a country and as a company. But it all starts – as with every key business topic, as with every discontinuity risk – with awareness and acceptance. And after that, it’s implementation that counts, day after day: protecting against cyber attacks is like handwashing to protect against viruses: you have to do it over and over again.

Outside the box - Cybersecurity awareness in the context of society
Digital technologies have long since become the linchpin of our lives. We trust relatively blindly in devices we do not understand, networks we do not see through, ecosystems whose complexity defies our imagination.
MoreThis requires a trustworthy technical basis, but also a social structure that is able to keep pace with the rapid development and even more, to give it a direction.

New normal? – How organizations can adapt to challenging times
Cybersecurity practices are constantly evolving, just like the threats they combat.
MoreCybersecurity practices are constantly evolving, just like the threats they combat. Over the past 12 months, ripples of natural, human-made, and political upheaval have spread far. Social, technological, and political changes continue to highlight new uncertainties. We are entering a new era of cybersecurity: Security strategies need to be taken to the next level – it is time to rethink and join forces on the defender side.
Together with IT experts we take a closer look: How is the current geopolitical and social situation changing our security? Which companies are particularly threatened? Which role do supply chain attacks play? And most important: How are we set up on the defender side? Together, we will discuss which actions we need to take to ensure we adjust to challenging times.
