SoSafe named a Strong Performer in The Forrester Wave™: Human Risk Management Solutions, Q3 2024

19 September 2024 · 7 min read

We are thrilled to share exciting news in our ongoing mission to improve digital self-defense: SoSafe has been recognized as a Strong Performer in the inaugural Forrester Wave™: Human Risk Management Solutions, Q3 2024 report, which we believe highlights our strong position and strategy in the market – as well as our market presence with over 5,000 customers worldwide.

The report recommends that “organizations that have to balance privacy with innovation should look to SoSafe” – a recognition we are proud of, as it confirms for us that our efforts to develop intuitive, effective, and privacy-conscious solutions are resonating within the industry and among our customers.

The report, which evaluates nine top vendors in the Human Risk Management market based on current offering, strategy, and market presence, has recognized SoSafe with the highest scores possible in six criteria, including innovation, psychological considerations, and privacy and nagging considerations. We believe these scores set us apart from traditional security solutions.

Forrester, a leading research firm known for in-depth analysis across industries, has taken a bold step to reshape and redefine the security awareness & training industry. We at SoSafe, grounded in psychology and human-centered design, are proud to be part of this evolution and committed to helping organizations achieve real behavioral change and ensure resilience at the human level.

What sets SoSafe apart in Human Risk Management?

At SoSafe, Europe’s largest human risk management solution, we strongly believe people want to protect their companies and work in the safest possible environment, but they need to be empowered to succeed.

This is more relevant now than ever, when there is a wide consensus among security professionals that the cyberthreat landscape is worsening at a concerning pace. According to our latest Human Risk Review 2024, a staggering 81% of security professionals believe that the threat landscape is the most challenging it has been in the past five years.

Companies are now witnessing how attackers are exploiting new attack channels, like social media, where they target individuals through personal accounts that lie beyond corporate security defenses. This, coupled with the fact that the vast majority of breaches – 68% according to Verizon’s Data Breach report – are still caused by unintentional human mistakes, highlights a crucial reality: Our best chance at protecting organizations is strengthening the security of the human layer.

Traditional security training programs have often addressed this challenge by offering endless content libraries, basic enhancements for emailing security, and one-size-fits-all solutions. However, these approaches fall short when it comes to building a strong security culture and reinforcing the human layer. We at SoSafe believe it’s time for a change in how human layer security is approached – and leading industry analysts agree. The report validates the increased importance of behavior-driven approaches to driving lasting security awareness.

At SoSafe, we have taken a fundamentally different approach. We focus on what truly matters: sustainable behavioral change and effective risk management. For that, we ensure that users receive the right amount of information, at the appropriate time, and specifically tailored to their needs, avoiding unnecessary repetitions and long interruptions to their work responsibilities.

To achieve this, our personalization engine provides customized learning materials and attack simulations through various channels, taking into account each user’s risk profile. But this is not all: Andrew Rose, Chief Security Officer of SoSafe, explains, “With our roots in the ‘motherland of privacy,’ we’ve embedded privacy-by-design principles into every aspect of our platform. SoSafe is now serving customers globally, but our commitment to privacy remains steadfast across all markets. We are committed to protecting individual data, fostering trust, and empowering employees to act securely – not employee monitoring.”

He continues, “I believe the findings from the Forrester report align closely with our mission to empower organizations around the world through personalized, psychology-driven solutions that address the full spectrum of human risk: Cybercriminals increasingly target personal domains, such as professional social networks and private emails, which lie outside corporate defenses. That’s why platforms like SoSafe, which put employees at the center of security, are critical in building resilient security cultures.”

Innovating with a human-centric approach

This year marked a significant step forward in our goal to revolutionize the way organizations manage human-related security risks. We deliver a highly personalized experience by minimizing generic training and instead provide users with tailored, relevant content across multiple channels. Another one of our key innovations is The Human Risk OS™ – a cohesive platform that integrates real-time risk detection with deep behavioral insights. Its Human Security Index enables security teams to monitor, track, and compare positive and negative trends in human behavior and then accelerate, prioritize, and measure the success of targeted interventions based on these metrics. For example, a CISO who sees a spike in click-through rates on phishing simulations that exploit a particular emotion targeted at his finance team could send an intervention to the entire department in the form of an email asking them to retake an e-learning module or even a ping in the collaboration tools their employees typically use. In this way, our solution helps organizations manage security risks more effectively while streamlining the learning process for end users.

Quote from The Forrester Wave™: Human Risk Management Solutions, Q3 2024 that says “The Human Risk OS [...] aims to engage users by using positive psychology to reduce friction and drive visibility. [SoSafe] invests heavily in R&D and has a solid innovation process.”

In this context, Sofie, an AI-powered assistant designed to streamline security communication within organizations, plays a big role in also reducing friction. It can be used as a great ally for targeted interventions when detecting company or department-wide trends in risky behaviors. Acting as the first line of support, it also offers employees real-time, 24/7 answers to security questions, providing quick and reliable guidance while alleviating the heavy workload that has already pushed many security teams to burnout. Additionally, Sofie can be trained using the organization’s knowledge base to handle not only security inquiries but also general questions, making it a versatile tool for improving internal support processes. As Andrew Rose explains, “Sofie makes it easier to keep employees informed, respond to incidents faster, and maintain a strong security posture across the organization.”

SoSafe’s reporting capabilities earned the highest score possible in that criterion in the Forrester report. And this is because our solution integrates a combination of tools that make threat reporting seamless and efficient. At the heart of this is our Phishing Report Button, which enables users to report phishing emails with just one click, making the process simple and quick. But we don’t stop there – research shows that learning improves by at least 50% when feedback is provided. That’s why our PhishFeedback system provides timely responses to users on the emails they report. This not only speeds up learning and reinforces the habit of reporting, but it also helps reduce false positives. For added convenience, we offer integrations with platforms like ServiceNow and Jira, making the reporting process fit seamlessly into any security team’s existing workflows.

As we continuously enhance our advanced phishing simulations and e-learning features, expand the capabilities of the Human Risk OS, and strengthen our content library with even greater personalization, automation, and new integrations, we always remain focused on our customers. Every innovation is designed with their needs in mind, ensuring they always have access to the cutting-edge tools necessary to protect their organizations effectively.
